....... David Blincow suggested to Brian that a camera club might be a good idea. Brian took up the challenge, advertising the club as widely as he could (without spending money!!), by using free publications and various notice boards around the village and slowly would-be members began to call.
The club had its first meeting in November 2006 where eight founder members sat around a table and discussed membership fees and now some 36 months on, the club has 80 members - probably now the largest club in Norfolk and with the lowest membership fees. An amazing feat for a village as small as Caston. Not all members live in Caston though. Some members travel quite some way in order to attend meetings when there are other clubs a lot closer. Brian likes to think the reason is because we all try to make new members welcome and avoid the 'clickyness' so often found in other clubs. Despite so many members Brian can still put a name to every face but the time is fast approaching where he and the committee think it prudent to ask anyone wanting to join if they would mind going on a waiting list for a while for no other reason than our village hall venue will not take too many more. The wait he says will be well worth it.
Apart from photography Brian also runs this web-site and another four as well including the web site for Caston Village itself. |
