PRINT COMPETITION

Tuesday 15th April

Members were a little slow submitting their entries this month but in the end we fielded a very creditable 42 entries and it has to be said that the quality is getting better.  The high scoring photos really were quite eye stunning but more importantly the feedback since the meeting has been very clear and that is that members really feel the positive critique from the judge is actually helping them improve their picture taking.

Just for the record, these were the rules for entering:-

The full rules are laid out on the Documents Downloads page but in essence this is a quick synopsis although should there be any variance then the Documents Downloads Rules will apply.

The image as presented must be all your own work.  You must take the image yourself and any manipulation of that image must have been undertaken by you.  You may print it at home or use a bureau to print it for you.  It is not essential that the image is mounted but presentation is important and a mount will help.  The mount may be purchased - it must not be framed.  The mount should be of the type that allows the photo to be sandwiched between the mount and a backing card.

The maximum external size for the mount is 500mm x 400mm.  Smaller is quite acceptable.

A label must be affixed on the back of the backing card that shows:

  • Your Membership Number
  • Your Competition Group (2 or 3)
  • The name of the image.
  • The Category (Autumn/Lynford Lakes   or  Open)

Labels may be downloaded from the Document Downloads page.

Although this is a print competition, a digital copy of your image must be sent to brian@castoncameraclub.org.uk with all the details as shown above no later than Monday 13th April 7:30pm.  If you are able, please make a low resolution image with a file size of around 200kb for the purpose of e-mailing but do not worry if you are uncertain as to how to do this, in which case just send it as a full size file.
