Caston Camera Club’s First Anniversary

On Tuesday evening, 21 November, Caston Camera Club celebrated its first year of existence. Following the formal business of the AGM there was a superb buffet with a celebratory birthday cake.

During the evening members also were able to cast their votes for the best image of the year, choosing from over 50 excellent members’ photographs that were on display which covered a wide subject range.  The winner was Phil Childs whose stunning macro picture of a small Skipper butterfly showing its every detail finished well ahead of the competition. He received the silver trophy for “Image of the Year”.  Geoff Bromley’s two entries which used clever image manipulation took second and third places.

Since its formation in December 2006, the club has gone from strength to strength. It currently has 46 members of varying photographic skill and expertise and is committed to supporting those interested in improving their picture taking skills.  It meets on the third Tuesday (no meeting in December) of each month and additionally runs several special events and organised visits to various picturesque locations. In 2008 it will also be running workshops on Photoshop Techniques and Portraiture.
