Children's Workshop
A one day Photographic Course for Juniors.
On Saturday 22nd August 2009 Caston Camera Club held a one day course for juniors. The course was attended by nine keen young people all enthusiastic to learn more about photography.

The course covered the history of cameras and how they work, how to hold and handle the camera, composing the photograph and how to obtain optimum exposure and sharp focus.
The group then divided into two parties where one party visited Caston Parish Church to take practical photographs and the other undertook a studio and portraiture workshop using studio lights. After lunch the two parties changed over and then the group came together for a review of the photographs they had taken and a brief introduction to the power of photograph manipulation using "Photoshop". The day concluded with a competition where the young people themselves chose the image they thought was the best of the day. The competition was won by Miles with a picture of sunlight refracting through a soap bubble for which he was awarded a gift voucher. Altogether the young folk worked hard, had some good fun and hopefully learned some of the rudiments of photography.
The course was led by Elaine Stubbings assisted by Geoff Bromley, Bob Darts and David Blincow. Here, with their parents' consent, is a group picture of the attendees, Michael, Jason, Jack, Joshua, Hollie, Miles, George, Devon and Maddy.
